Wednesday 26th February
There are disappointing field sizes at Bangor On Dee and Wincanton today, a few options though at Wetherby and we will focus on the 3 mile Handicap Hurdle at 3.53pm.
A couple of big priced Trackers in 9 runner races really catch my eye too for a small accumulator bet and if we add in a similar type (not in the Tracker system) at Bangor on Dee, we can create a small unit Patent bet (3 x e/w win / 3 x e/w double / 1 x e/w Treble) for a bit of fun and hopefully a nice return.
After the announcement of the Cheltenham Handicap Race weights yesterday it's crystal clear that the Handicapper has really clobbered some of the Irish horses this year, although not all. There will be "dark horses" from Irelnad and the UK that he hasn't possibly spotted and our job is to find them. We've compiled a short list of around 10 Irish and 10 UK based horses who we are now very closely monitoring. Many have "double entries" so between now and the weekend we will sift through and try to determine the most likely races for them. By the weekend we will also have a 14 day Forecast (from Becky who works for the Met Office and who has been a wonderful help in the past), what we can see is a very dry forecast for at least the next week at least after today. We will also wait for the usual Journalists and Bookie Sponsored gobshites to spout their usual clap trap - invariably that sees the poor horse they put up crash in price, again by the weekend, they will have cleared the way and we can have a genuine view of price and value. I confidently predict a couple of very strong Ante Post selections this Sunday and a couple more about this time next week.
