Carlisle 2.40

Carlisle 2.20 Class 4 - Handicap Chase - 2 miles 4 furlongs - Soft (rain about) - 11 run

A competitive Carlisle Chase in which it's hard to rule much out with any degree of certainty.

At the head of the market SCOTTSH ACCENT looks very solid despite a 7lbs penalty for a win last time and the bottom line is, it's the one they all have to beat if you want to play a "win saver" it looks a very logical move.

Caboy makes Course debut and looks to be handicapped about right and a fair chunk of weight to carry, Trongate is very consistent and regularly places around this kind of mark but hard to see where that extra spark is coming from to get in to the winners enclosure, Central Flame was runner up last time, has obvious chances off this mark of running a similar race but at 13 is hardly likely to find a chunk of progression.

They are at the head of the market and other than Scottish Accent look to be marginal in terms of their market value and likelihood to win.

So lets at look further down the market at bigger prices.

Some Can Dance has decent Course form but looks out of form at the moment, could revive here but I'm not convinced. Cloncerna has bits of Irish form but not really been cut any slack off its opening British handicap marks so far and Docktor Glanz, who has return in decent form off a 2 and a half year absence may just prefer better Ground and need this run off a short break.

I really like a pair who I think are bigger Odds than they should be.

ARD CHROS won over this Course and Distance in the Autumn off today's mark, has had 3 runs since, one where it didn't get the trip, one where it was hampered early and another where they just got the fractions wrong. We know Course, Distance; Going and Handicap mark all align, so not sure why the price is so high. Definitely worth a small investment.

WELL ABOVE PAR is another who looks over-priced, is on a nice mark, this is ideal trip, the Going won't be any excuse and it should just about be race fit to perfection now and looks worth a small investment too.
