Curragh 4.40

MICHAEL - Consolation race 4.40 - 1 mile - 23 run - Heavy

A similar type of assesment and staking plan.

The Speculator fancy is SUPERIOR FORCE, an ex Boughey horse in this instance now trained in Ireland and one whose best runs in UK were with considerable cut underfoot.

At big odds My Kirkum trained by Tony Martin and ridden by Seamie Heffernan caught the eye and would be reserve selection if we have a non runner. Broad Daylight for Jim Bolger is one of several unexposed type who could run big races and you can bracket the likes of See Me Through; Barrier; Rampage, Global Energy and Moglwi in the same category in a race that seems deeper than the feature race. Dumb Love is the favourite but in such a competitive field doesn't represent great value.

My selections in preference order are-

MAGIC CHARM 3rd last year off a mark of 50 and a subsequent winner, runs off 62 with a good 7lbs Claimer and drawn 10. HOKUSAI has been best to date at 7 furlongs but evidence a step up to a mile will suit and best marks have been achieved in heavy conditions.Drawn 14 and a horse coming to peak as a 4 year old with plenty of scope. BEAUTY BELLA ticks all the right boxes for me also and BROAD DAYLIGHT of the unexposed ones deserves a small bet as does CLEAR QUART at very big odds who is best on soft/heavy and who finished an injury affected 2023 with a very promising run and a draw in Stall 18 looks a positive.

Tips (1s) Magic Charm / (2s) Hokusai / (3s) Beauty Bella / £1 e/w - Broad Daylight + Clear Quart (Speculator tip shrapnel - Superior Force)
