Hereford 2.00

Micheal - Hereford 2.00 - A Class 5 race over just short of 2 1/2 miles on Good Going but the field of 18 ensure enhanced Odds, so worth a bash. Lamh Ar Lamh won at Taunton last time out, back in trip today, not a strong favourite, but this race is not exactly full of placed horses in the past, let alone winners. Yalla Habibti was running as well as it has done when falling in 2nd place last time out, the break is a bit of a worry, but that glimmer of something makes it a danger. CUSHUISH and VEILED SECRET both make the Tracker, the former is solid in this grade, as consistent as these types can be and a solid e/w shout. VEILED SECRET comes from a Yard that has been seriously affected by a Rape Seed induced fungal virus for most of the winter, glimmers of a return to form and a winner yesterday. It was a decent horse in the past and worth tracking.

The one who stood out at the bottom end of the market for a number of reasons is BENTONS LAD. It has won races on Good ground with Mark Walford, had a wind operation before joining the McPherson yard and has yet to really deliver anything. The drop in trip is interesting and having won races on similar Going last Spring off marks of 89 and 95, the return to a mark of 90 with a decent 7lbs Claimer makes it worth a poke at big odds. It's the type of race where something is likely to pop up to win or place at big odds and as we started with the comment, not many in here are proven winners!
