Navan 3.10
MICHAEL - Navan 3.10 - Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 4 furlongs - Good to Yielding (5 mm of rain) -26 run / 3 reserves
A massive field and after getting off the mark inmy short term Irish stint with a 33/1 winner on Thursday (advised at 66/1) lets hope lightning can strike twice!
I'll try to make the final selections clear given the widely available enhanced odds.
At the top end of the market if the Unanswered who romped home on penultimate race form turns up he'll be a massive danger, if the horse who was inexplicably poor last time turns up he'll have no chance and thats a conundrum that at the price I'm happy to ignore. Aurora Princess has stamina questions i think on this tough Course off a likely brisk pace. Neigh Botha makes handicap debut for Elliott with similar stamina niggles, he also runs Myleshown Upper and Ashton Court at bigger prices but although you can never discount anything from the Yard I think all are opposable in this field. Coolmeen Park has each way prospects but no more.
I dallied longest of those not tipped on NEW ROSS for Joseph O'Brien with JJ Slevin up and WILD HUNT who I think would have a good chance if it can find last years form, if either of those popped up it would be no surprise and they were 5th and 6th in my final ratings IF anyone wants to go that deep. Similarly one of the Trackers Simply Shabra who is a huge price would not be a surprise placer either. The likesof Legacy Thor and Meetingofthewaters also deserve a passing mention on a few bits of form.
I'll nail my mast though to 4 horses who are in order of preference and you knowwho came 5th and 6th now too.
MUSIC OF TARA for De Bromhead and Blackmore is clearly progressive and scopey and learning and really all it needs now is a win in a race of this type. I'll be disappointed if that isn't today. JUSTICALISM jumped off the page a little for me and especially on the bais of the penultimate run at Naas. The better ground should suit and bit of rain will have freshened it up. DRAGONS PASS is a bigger price and will welcome any rain but apart from the niggle it may like it a bit softer struck me as being well handicapped and with a nice mark to outrun very nice odds. Finally at a similar price is the other Tracker horse PRINCE ZALTAR whose mark is just coming in to the kind of range it has placed off before and of the pair in the Tracker I just preferred him to Simply Shabra mentioned earlier.
TIPS - (1) Music Of Tara / (2) Justicalism / (3) Dragons Pass / (4) Prince Zaltar
