A number of these won't welcome not probably expected the deteriorating conditions. The soft Going won't get any better and I'm prepared to take a risk that come teatime it will be closer to heavy Going.

 

The three that look most suited are CASH TO ASH although that one has a hike in the weights and 12 stones to carry and a pair who may seem out of form now but who have plenty of back-form in heavy Going, proven stamina, and who could suddenly revive in the conditions.

 

MCGINTYS DREAM has won a couple of similar races early season off marks of 88 and 96, struggled a bit with the added weight and increased mark since but a reduced 102 today can make conditions pay and hopefully pick up something at a nice price. CAVENTARA has similarly gone off the boil but last win was off a mark of 108 in these conditions at Kelso and gets back down to that mark for the first time in a considerable while here.

 

 

 

I'm a little less sure about this race as it looks deeper in terms of heavy ground form than the Long Distance Final.

 

Before the rain I would have been VERY sweet on Rose Dobbins DO NOT DISTURB who finally clicked last time and looks an improving horse and the 4lbs penalty should not stop it. The mud if it gets any deeper might though and for that reason I will reluctantly leave it out. Although this is a Series Final it would not be a complete surprise if they declared a non runner if getting very deep and wait for Ayr or similar.

 

The pair who look most likely to benefit at nice e/w Odds are WELL ABOVE PAR and ARD CHROS both are well enough handicapped, welcome the rain and look likely to run well.

 

It's more of a "shrapnel race" for those who want such a punt so I will go 1/4 point each way each horse
