Leopardstown 4.40 Handicap Chase 2 miles 5 Furlongs - Yielding - 11 run

 

The hot favourite is POKER PARTY for Henry De Bromhead and Rachel Blackmore, clearly on a fitness mission for bigger targets and short of the best trip. The price looks skinny and if you want a win saver have one, there is definitely each way value to be had in those looking for places and perhaps better if Poker Party is not bottomed out by choice.

 

Moonshine Bay is definitely one for the notebook whatever happens today, needed return after a year off almost, probably needs better Going, may still need this but one I will be very closely tracking in its 2-3 runs following this one. Aniable Fly is a Course winner who drops in trip and Grade, last in 3 seasonal runs and one to be wary of BUT on a very nice mark now if the light does flicker. The same applies to SCOIR MEAR who I dabbled with last time. Certainly well backed that day, ran better than place suggests and the drop in trip could see it come on again and that make it Tracker material. Call The Taxie runs over a far more suitable trip than last time, ran well to this kind of distance there but that may be a bit of an optical trick as the others would have been going at a pace more suited to that distance than this one. Has a squeak on form prior to long break and another one for the notebook.

 

The selection though is WOODS WELL. Won this race last year off a mark of 136. The form prior to that was not quite as bad as recent form BUT when asked by the Stewards last year to explain, they did say the horse jumped better round this particular track and appreciated the soft conditions. The add Blinkers here and off a mark of 131 it's a sporting each way bet to place at the very least.
