Limerick 2.50 Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 6 furlongs - 18 run (enhanced places) -  Soft - (some afternoon rain)

 

This is a tough and competitive field and I've gone for 2 main selections but also a few at big prices that you may like to have a dabble at to enhanced places.

 

Elsannah is in the long term Tracker but I feel best watched today and is one for the medium term future. Merry Moves is also in the Tracker based on early P2P and Novice form that has yet to really deliver over Fences and is back hurdling and best watched also. 

 

Lilian Bland is being backed on the back of a 3 mile P2P win last time and the booking of Danny Mullins, the form prior to that was poor to be honest albeit over shorter trips and I fancy others more. Rule Of June will probably need the run off a 6 month break and better ground would suit but I'm adding this one to the TRACKER for the better ground Spring and Summer tasks ahead. Quornofamonday is another being backed after an unfortunate run last time, staying on strongly after being hampered but I think for me the value has gone and I'm not 100% convinced on the overall form profile. 

 

At the top end of the market it's hard to choose between Chelseas Friend who is in consistent form but who may not want too much more rain, Rochestown is is upped 7lbs from last run and with collateral form with Chelseas Friend and Atlantian a twice runner up for Tony Martin but in the top 5 in the betting I do think that the pair to back with most confidence ate STOLEN MOMENT and HOLIDAY IN KERRY.

 

STOLEN MOMENT is upped 8lbs for a facile Clonmel win over 3 miles in soft and it has an eye catching bit of Course form runner up of 18 off a mark of 82 on this quirky track where pace and not getting carried away down the back straight are vital assets. HOLIDAY IN KERRY ran well over 3 miles last time showing a return to the sort of form that saw it win a Division of this race last year off a mark of 84 and I think off a mark of 91 it can be equally competitive here.

 

Of those at bigger prices and in order of preference I really do think that GETAWAY ABBEY who was 3rd of 18 in this last year and who should now be race fit to attack with a similar effort today is worth a punt to enhanced places , SILVER PLANEUR too has some quite well hidden Course form and although basically out of form has dropped to a very interesting mark too and has proven stamina over further in heavy ground. A bet on those pair is recommended. The only other one of note would be Morrie In D Quarry who would be worth looking at if the form of its penultimate punchestown run could be taken at face value.

Limerick 4.35 Handicap Chase - 3 miles 1/2 furlong - 14 run - Going Soft

 

This was a fair bit easier for me to try to solve with so many having form, going and trip concerns. 

 

Mahler Appeal is in the Tracker and isa progressive Handicap Hurdler, it makes Chase debut here against so experienced types and does have winning 3 mile P2P form. I'm sure it can win over fences but the P2P form also throws up a few Falls and plenty evidence of sketchy jumping. So, on the basis of that probably best to watch but if it did put in a clear round it would have a serious chance.

 

Three Loud Knocks has popped up a few times for me at big placed prices but has it all to do here Sanibel Island has been a fantastic servant to us in the past and recent past and holds very strong claims here but its defeat by Trckey TRix who we backed at massive Odds last time suggests may be the handicapper and winter ground are just now against it. I'd have stamina concerns about Joy of Life and handicap mark and trip concerns about Happy Dreams and although Made In The Woods deserves a win with form figures of 2-2-2-2 I just don't think its a win bet horse at the price.

 

The standout one for me therefore to back as an each way banker is GOODNIGHTGODBLESS he finally gets his ground at the right trip off a nice mark and really has no excuses. I will also make a far more speculative investment in TURBOJET its right out of form but has plenty of back form if reviving and the Yard have hit a rich seam with similar types in the past few weeks.
