Navan 2.48

Sean / Placespotter - Navan 2.48 - Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 4 furlongs - 13 run Yielding to Soft

The favourite here is Tony Martins Gain De Cause who has won off marks of 98 and 107, goes up to a mark of 115 and clearly the one they have to beat, I don't think its bomb-proof and will look for some each way value.

Sparkling Stairs is up 8lbs for a win at Naas and as an ex French horse upped in trip may prefer wetter ground than this sticky Yielding ground expected with probably a bit of early frost creating a bit of a crust. Petrol Head won off a mark of 87 in November at Fairyhouse and has disappointed since at Warwick and Punchestown and is a hard one to fathom. West Is Awake is in our long term Tracker, has run OK in Maidens and has a sporting each way chance and Fire Squadron who runs for Elliott is a really dark horse that you'd probably ignore for a smaller stable but would be no surprise to see it ignite at what might be the right trip off a top weight of 12 stones. If you want a shrapnel saver because its Elliott and you can get 10/1 plus, I'd not put you off but there are 3 I fancy more.

CHOSEN DIAMOND comes from a yard in a decent bit of form, has had 3 handicap runs and seems to be finding a nice level it can win off and off a mark of 99 with JJ Slevin up is I think the best each way value in the top half of the market.

At bigger odds though I can see good runs here from SILVERTOWN who was 5th of 19 over Course and Distance on its penultimate run and with 3lbs less here provided it handles the type of yielding would have a chance of running a place at nice Odds. DIFFICULT DECISION too who has wins off marks of 92 and 101 back on its CV, and who is best at this kind of trip with form on soft and heavy Going and with form up to 3 miles which will be handy as this Course is a proper test of stamina, also looks well in today off a mark of 104.

TIP - Chosen Diamond / Tracker - Silvertown / Shrapnel - Difficult Decision
