Taunton 1.40
ROBIN - Taunton 1.40 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 -2 miles 3 furlongs -15 run - Going Good
There are some enhanced place offers here and that opened up my thinking.
The favourite is Can't Beat History but I feel the 5/2 is tight enough given the overall form although it did impress at Doncaster last time. I can't get past THE RAIN KING as anything other than a very solid each way bet at anything above 5/1, it has solid Course and Distance form and for that reason at the top end of the market I prefer it to Modreeney and Professor Calculus who is upped 6lbs for an all the way Course and Distance win which while impressive, may not be repeatable if the others realise it really was given the run of the race then.
Broomfield Cave is in the Tracker and a few of those have popped up when NOT tipped, it was 3rd over Course and Distance last time but at around 7/2 there is no margin for error in terms of a win bet. Moscow Spy is also in the Tracker and has first time tongue tie and cheekpieces, it looks a more summer type of horse to me so I'll continue to monitor it.
The enhanced places though do allow a more speculative interest in a couple with form to find by infinite promise. FERDINAND STAR also gets first time cheek-pieces and a tongue tie and runs off a mark of 99, on collateral Irish form there are suggestions it could be handicapped eventually off a mark of at least 110, Nick Schofield will be sure to cajole the horse along and it really does strike me as one with considerable scope to improve markedly at some point. I really fancy it to do that very soon. A similar type is BERTIE WOOSTER for the Tizzard team, whilst i do prefer FERDINAND STAR more, if you want a bash at this one I really do think it'll improve today too. Its slowly coming to hand and I think a sure fire future winner.
