Wincanton 2.50
Wincanton 2.50 Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 3 miles 1 furlong - soft - 16 run
Just Go For It is a worthy favourite, very well in on the form book and the only question mark is the trip and with rain about, I'm happy to take it on at the price.
Lightonthewing is up 14lbs and will surely struggle off this mark on known form unless it has suddenly found a stone of further improvement.
Gallow Fred could be one to follow and track after today's handicap debut, the mark looks reasonable and a debutant off a mark that looks fair is always going to be a danger. Tip Top Cat takes a step up in trip for Twister, who had 2 winners yesterday after a quiet period, indeed a quiet season overall, the fact is that both winners should have won, so we'll wait a little while longer before thoughts of a "golden spell" emerging. The performance of this horse will be a good pointer to overall Yard form.
Cheque En Blanc makes a return to hurdles for the first time since April 2018, it's from a yard full of handicap bandits and for that reason worth a look. Hardy Artico won at Hereford over jsut under 2 and a half miles last time, ex David Dennis and has moved first to Tom Symonds and now to Matt Shepherd with Dennis. The obvious thing to point out with this one was a comment to Stewards who enquired over the shock win last time, to be told that the horse had benefited from a drop from nearly 3 miles down to 2 and a half miles.....makes a return to this trip a bit of a quandry, we'll soon know if they were "extracting the michael". !
I like CLONDAW PROMISE a lot in this race, shwed some decent form P2Pointing; gets that kind of trip here, clearly got some potential and scope to improve and will be disappointed if it doesn't place at least.
FLOWING CADENZA has been tipped and mentioned to place the last twice, is on a nice mark and really looks good solid enhanced place material at a decent each way price and no excuses.
