Sunday 9th March

Carlisle 3.30-:

A competitive 11 runner field here over 2 miles and 3 and 1/2 furlongs and a few making handicap debuts or not a lot of handicap experience but potential are towards the top end of the betting market. A few of them are also upped in trip and this track has a brutal climb to the finish.

The more I analysed the more I was drawn to the bottom pair in the market and I can make plausible cases for both.

SINGAPORE TRIP has won at Perth and placed at Kelso last season off marks of 110 and 109 respectively, has been disappointing so far this season but back to a mark of 11 as a result and with Brian Hughes again booked it's not outlandish to anticipate a far better run here. RAFFERTY'S RETURN is one of a pair for Rebecca Menzies yard and this one is a Course and Distance winner who has also dropped to a winning mark and may just be able to revive with optimum conditions. (Northern)

Warwick 3.50 -:

Handicap Hurdle Class 4 over an extended 2 miles and 5 furlongs and on Good and drying ground, I will be disappointed if both BOWENSPARK and HIGHLAND LEGACY don't place at least with one of them winning here. The consistent and plucky phillipa Sue drops in trip but can never be discounted here (Robin)

Naas 4.45 -:

Leinster National Handicap Chase on this stamina testing Course over 3 miles and 1 furlong. I narrowed this down to 3 horses and just left out likely favourite Tyre Kicker in favour of BETTER TIMES AHEAD who should now be fit and ready to roll and ESPANITO BELLO who is a genuine Course specialist here and impossible to leave out of calculations (Sean)
